Recycle Washing Powder Scoops

There is no need to throw away that washing powder scoop, just because you have bought a new box/bag that contains a new scoop.

After giving it a clean in the dishwasher, or with soap and hot water..

Why not use it for some purpose around the house, perhaps for your small animals feed?

I use the scoops for my guinea pigs pellet and muesli mix

Using the scoop for my animal mix

This means I save alittle money on not having to purchase a scoop and it gets recycled within my home

All my guineas love this brand of mix from Animates

Harness Extension Tip for Small Dogs

We purchased a lead and harness for Bella when she was a wee pup.

We managed and still do get alot of use out of this set

As expected, the clips did start to grow shy of connecting on the harness

As there was nothing wrong with the lead, and she can still wear the harness we
came up with an idea, to create an extension without spending more money

Use Two standard keyring holders. Connect one to each side of the harness ( where you would normally place the lead clip ). Connect the two together by using the lead - away we go

Please note:
**Safety is key.  She is firmly in the harness and cannot slip out with the extension in. As she is a small dog and does not pull hard, I can use this method.
Because keyrings can come in assorted sizes, ensure the size is right for the size of your small pet
Not recommended for large/strong dogs just incase they bend the rings**

Maraetai Beach

Spent a wonderful morning at Maraetai Beach
( Just 25minutes from home )

It was Bella's first trip to the sea-side and with alittle coaching from mama, papa and Bailey - she managed to enter the water ( just )

Bailey had such FUN too! he was playing with sticks, running up and down the beach - total FREEDOM!

After their swim. Mama and papa had lunch on a picnic bench, over-seeing the beautiful ocean.

If you are anything like our mama, and enjoy organising almost everything and anything.

And, if you haven't already done so, why not organise a permanent dog organisational system that best suits you.

This way it is permanently setup. It can be left in the car, or placed in a handy area, so that you are able to grab and go.

We will  show and tell our mama's tips that she finds is helpful for those days that we end-up in the dog car, for an outing.

The Wardrobe

So, mama was looking through some photo's and found this.

Such a fab item

Shh...not to tell Bella

Sad, because papa has left for the day.

He's flying to Blenheim ( at tip of south island ) this afternoon.

He will be back tomorrow afternoon.

We miss him, and always pack-a-sad face.

What's Wrong with Pet Suppliers???

It is such a shame, that here in New Zealand, it is rather difficult to find descent pet suppliers.

It's either TOO expensive,  cheap n nasty, or you can't find it here, so I need to look at overseas methods.

At one stage I thought I was onto a winner. I found an animal supplier that could supply bulk hay and wood shavings, at an unbelievable price. The wood shavings were $22 for an 80Litre bale, and the hay was $6.50 for HUGE bag.
Then it happened......they stopped supplying the hay for their business. I still use the wood-shavings, but only seldom, as it's for my Chinchilla.
I often wonder, that if and when I require the wood-shavings.....will they still supply it?

I was determined to find another hay supplier. And ....I did: Wish I hadn't though.
Because, buying hay from a trader off  TradeMe ( it's like ebay ) was the worst thing for my guinea pigs.
I bought a total of 4 bags of hay from this trader , and before I knew what was going on with the ginny's...I was off to the vet and $100NZD later they all had to have the jab for mange mites.
Never before had I been struck with such a problem.
I learn't my lesson and that was never buy cheap nasty DIRTY hay.
I ended up using 2 and a half bags. I am still yet to throw the rest out . I dare NOT sell this on!

I notice that Animates, who seem to be the main pet chain here.....Are slowly, depleting  their stocks of brands that I used to regularly buy. Is it me? but I would think items like chinchilla dust, alfalfa hay/blocks for the guinea's, and a shirt for my dog would be of use - ho hum!

I have come to the conclusion that Animates will supply me with their expensive hay and reasonably priced muesli pellets that the guinea pigs love SOoo much...
